Introduction of Kunshan Nuoli Optics: What industrial fields are optical lenses generally used in?

Optical lenses play an important role in many industrial fields:

First, the field of photoelectric communication

fibre-optic communication

Optical lenses are used in optical fiber couplers. In optical fiber communication system, it is necessary to efficiently couple optical signals from one optical fiber to another optical fiber or optical device. Optical lens can focus and collimate the light beam and improve the coupling efficiency. For example, in the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system, optical signals with different wavelengths are accurately focused into the core of an optical fiber through a lens, so that multiple signals can be transmitted in the same optical fiber, which greatly increases the communication capacity.

Optical transceiver modules also use optical lenses. It can shape the transmitted optical signal, so that the light can be emitted more intensively, and at the same time, the received weak optical signal can be focused on the detector at the receiving end, so as to enhance the intensity of the received signal, thus improving the communication distance and quality.

optical sensor

In the industrial automation production line, optical sensors use optical lenses to focus and collect light. For example, in the photoelectric proximity sensor, the lens focuses the reflected light on the photosensitive element, and judges the approach or departure of the object by detecting the intensity change of the reflected light. This kind of sensor can be used to detect the position, shape and existence of products, and realize automatic production control and quality inspection.

Second, the field of laser processing

laser cutting

Optical lens is the key component of laser cutting equipment. When laser cuts metal, plastic, ceramics and other materials, the lens focuses the laser beam on the surface of the material, so that the laser energy is highly concentrated. By controlling the focus position and beam quality, various shapes of workpieces can be accurately cut. For example, in the automobile manufacturing industry, using high-power laser cutting equipment combined with optical lens to cut the plate of automobile body can achieve high precision and high speed cutting, and the cutting edge is smooth, which reduces the subsequent processing procedures.

Laser welding

For the laser welding process, the optical lens is used to focus the laser beam and transfer enough energy density to the welding site. In the electronic industry, such as the welding of circuit boards, optical lenses focus laser beams on tiny solder joints to achieve high-precision welding. This welding method has the advantages of high speed and small heat affected zone, which can weld fine electronic components and improve the quality and reliability of products.

Third, the field of instruments and meters

microscope

Optical lens is the core component of microscope. Both the objective lens and the eyepiece are optical systems composed of multiple optical lenses. In the biological microscope, tiny biological samples are magnified and imaged by the objective lens, and then further magnified by the eyepiece, so that observers can clearly see the microstructure such as cells and microorganisms. In metallographic microscope, it is used to observe the microstructure of metal materials, and the combination of lenses can provide high-resolution and high-contrast images, which can help materials scientists and engineers study the relationship between the microstructure and properties of metals.

telescope

In astronomical telescopes, optical lenses are used to collect and focus light from distant celestial bodies. Refractive astronomical telescope focuses the starlight through a large objective lens, and then observes it through the eyepiece or records the image with other detectors. In industrial measurement, such as geodetic telescope, it is used to measure the angle and distance of distant objects, and the precision and quality of optical lens directly affect the accuracy of measurement.

Fourth, the field of projection display

projector

The optical lens system inside the projector is responsible for modulating and projecting the light emitted by the light source. In the liquid crystal projector (LCD), the optical lens focuses the light modulated by the liquid crystal panel and projects it onto the screen to form a clear image. In the digital micromirror device (DMD) projector, optical lens is also needed to process the reflected light and realize the image amplification and projection. It is widely used in conference rooms, classrooms, home theaters and other occasions to provide people with a large-screen visual experience.

Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) Equipment

In the AR/VR head-mounted display device, the optical lens is used to enlarge and correct the image on the micro display screen, so that it can be clearly presented in the user's field of vision. The design and quality of optical lens plays an important role in solving image distortion and improving visual immersion, and is one of the key factors to realize high-quality AR/VR experience.
