A brief introduction: What are the characteristics of optical glass materials used in the production of optical lenses

Optical lens is an important component of optical system, and it is also the knowledge in optical engineering. A lens is an optical component made of a material that can pass through a spectrum, generally using optical glass for the visible and near-infrared spectra (IR-A)(400-1400nm) and crystal materials for the mid-infrared (IR-C)(3-50mm). Lens technology can be widely used in machine vision, digital imaging, laser collimation and focusing and various types of optical instruments.

In optical lenses, convex lenses are particularly common and widely used. A convex lens is a lens with a thicker center and a thinner edge. Convex lens has the effect of converging light, so it is also called "converging lens" and "positive lens", which are usually used for farsightedness and reading glasses. This kind of optical lens can be divided into: convex lens - is convex lens on both sides; Plano-convex lens - a lens that is convex on one side and flat on the other; Concave-convex lens - a lens that is convex on one side and concave on the other.

The function of an optical lens is an optical element made of a transparent material (such as glass, crystal, etc.), which affects the wavefront curvature of light. It is a device that can focus or diverge light, producing images that are both real and virtual. Widely used in security, car wear, digital cameras, lasers, optical instruments and other fields. All kinds of common colorless optical glasses include fused time, calcium fluoride, magnesium fluoride, silicon, germanium, zinc selenide and other materials; Plano-convex lens, bino-convex lens, plano-concave lens, bino-concave lens, hyperhemispherical lens, spherical lens, meniscus lens, cylindrical lens, rod lens, glued lens, etc.

Optical lenses made of optically grade glass materials have: high transparency, high light transmittance, good temperature resistance, long life, uniform texture, and good refractive ability, but the production process is also more complex than other materials of the lens. There are many materials that can be used to make lenses in optical grade glass, such as fused quartz, calcium fluoride, magnesium fluoride, silicon, germanium, zinc selenide and other materials as well as various optical colorless glass; Can mainly produce plano-convex lens, biconvex lens, plano-concave lens, biconvex lens, super hemisphere lens, ball lens, meniscus lens, cylindrical mirror, rod mirror, glued mirror and so on. After the production of these lenses is completed, various bands are coated by the vacuum coating process (for example, the lens usually needs to be plated with anti-reflection film to reduce the reflection of the lens surface, which can reduce the loss of light energy and image more clearly) to become a lens with excellent performance.
